Tv bench - before & after

before

Before - high, ugly and messy

We have been using this as the tv bench ever since I came here. That is a 4-month old LCD. We used to have the big and bulky tv which had gone bad so we gave it back to our landlord...heheh... This bench has castor wheels where we can turn to the area where we were watching the tv. Then when we got the new LCD we can actually turn that. Anyway, that's not the point.

Whenever I turn on the tv or dvd for Ethan he would sometimes stand right in front of the bench and look up because he's too short for the tv. Sis suggested that we should get a new bench because she worried that it might hurt Ethan's eye if he does that in the long term. So we took her advice, after so many months and got this...

after

After - low, nice and neat.

We bought this tv bench from Ikea for $75. It's a fair price for its looks and quality. My lovely husband spent about an hour assembling this tv bench so three cheers for him. With this new bench, Ethan still walks right upfront to watch sometimes but at least he doesn't have to look up. The problem we have now is that he can reach the on/off button on the tv now. If you notice the masking tape on our Foxtel (Aussie's Astro) decoder on the left, it's to stop him from taking the card out. We ought to do that with the tv as well...hahaha...

Edit: Another thing that you might not notice is that I have also lowered his high chair so that it is of the same level as the tv. The toy hanging behind the high chair is closer to the tray now. The current tv level is lower than what we (adults) are used to especially when we're sitting on the dining chair, but on the lounge it's just nice.
